EO Summer School

As part of the ALCAR project, project team member and assistant at the Faculty of Geodesy, Filip Radić, attended the summer school organized by OpenGeoHub in Wageningen, the Netherlands, from September 1 to 6, 2025.
OpenGeoHub is an international non-profit foundation dedicated to the development of open-source software, open data, and reproducible research in the field of geospatial and environmental sciences. Since its founding, it has brought together researchers, developers, and practitioners to jointly create innovative tools and methods that make geospatial analysis more accessible and transparent. To date, OpenGeoHub has contributed to more than 150 scientific papers with over 20,000 citations and has produced petabyte-scale datasets available to the global scientific community. Through its projects, publications, and training events, OpenGeoHub supports global communities in addressing challenges such as climate change, land use, and sustainable development. Its mission is to encourage knowledge exchange and empower people worldwide to build better, data-driven solutions for the environment and society.
The OpenGeoHub Summer School is an international annual event that has been held since 2010 at various locations across Europe, North America, and Australia. It brings together researchers and experts in open-source software and open data with the goal of advancing tools for analysis and modeling. The 2025 edition is organized in collaboration with the Earth Observation Council (EO Council), the Netherlands Space Office, and SURF. The program includes lectures and live demonstrations by leading EO modelers and OSGeo developers, hands-on workshops, panel discussions, machine learning competitions, and a variety of social events.
